Chamonix {Skiing in France}

After a night in Geneva , we headed into France, and up to the mountains.  We rented an apartment right in the middle of Chamonix as our base for the weekend. Chamonix is the cute little French ski town that you would imagine.  All the delicacies of France (wine, cheese, bread) nestled in a valley, surrounded by the Alps.  A dream come true. The thing about Chamonix that surprised me the most was that it was so affordable.  We bought a 2-day lift ticket for about $100 each - for multiple mountains.  Need I say more?  Ok....our rentals were less than we spent on lunch. The weather moves fast in the mountains.  It was foggy, then sunny, then snowing.  I didn't know when to take out the camera. Geneva {The Gateway to Chamonix}

When Brian and I arrived in Dublin last April, the first trip we booked was a ski weekend in Chamonix.  And 10 months later, we arrived in Geneva.  Since we were there, we decided to spend a night in Switzerland before heading across the boarder to France, and up into the mountains. We didn't get the most beautiful day, but rainy weather in Geneva meant snow on the mountains.  And I was okay with that. We really did everything in Switzerland that you would expect: We saw a bunch of clocks Found a massive Swiss Chocolate - too bad our bags were too small We ate some fondue Went to the Patek Philippe museum/watch collection.  This was actually pretty incredible to see all the watches throughout history, and learn about their significance  during different eras.
