The Lederman Kitchen

We spent last weekend in Amsterdam.  Being only an hour and ten minute flight away, it's pretty easy and accessible for us.  Our friends from San Francisco, Chris & Morgan were ending their European holiday there for the weekend, and we thought it was the perfect excuse for a weekend trip. A great canal shot To say the least, Amsterdam was beautiful.  It's made up of countless canals and a million bikes.  We spent our weekend soaking up the sun, cruising around town on rental bikes, snacking on dutch gouda, and watching all the boats pass along the canals. Dutch Gouda Now, I mentioned cheese already, but other things that come to mind when you think of Amsterdam might be Coffee Shops and the Red Light District.  They are definitely a scene, but in no way define the city - unless, of course, that is what you're after.  That said, we did take a quick stroll through the Red Light District the first night. After our first and second day in Stockholm, we had really fallen in love with the city, the people, the lifestyle and the food. Before the trip, our only plan was to spend a day biking ( check ).  And a day on a boat, exploring the archipelago a bit more.  The boat tours of the archipelago were all day excursions, and we decided that being confined to a boat all day (these were loooong tours, like 8-10 hours) was not what we wanted.  Instead, we decided to take a 30 minute boat ride to the island Fjaderholmarna, which came recommended by several co-workers and friends. Brian and I took a long weekend to Belgium 2 weekends ago, going from Brussels to Ghent to Bruges.  I have a lot of photos to share as Ghent and Bruges are the most adorable towns that make you feel like you're walking though a storybook. In Ghent Our trip was planned around the Ghent Jazz Festival, where a band we've been wanting to see for years, was headlining, Rodrigo y Gabriella .  Their show was incredible.  We didn't know before we moved to Ireland, but after they left Mexico, they moved to Dublin and played on Grafton Street and street corners before they made it big.  We'll definitely see them again next time they play in Dublin.
