Amsterdam {Bikes & Canals}

Image
We spent last weekend in Amsterdam.  Being only an hour and ten minute flight away, it's pretty easy and accessible for us.  Our friends from San Francisco, Chris & Morgan were ending their European holiday there for the weekend, and we thought it was the perfect excuse for a weekend trip. A great canal shot To say the least, Amsterdam was beautiful.  It's made up of countless canals and a million bikes.  We spent our weekend soaking up the sun, cruising around town on rental bikes, snacking on dutch gouda, and watching all the boats pass along the canals. Dutch Gouda Now, I mentioned cheese already, but other things that come to mind when you think of Amsterdam might be Coffee Shops and the Red Light District.  They are definitely a scene, but in no way define the city - unless, of course, that is what you're after.  That said, we did take a quick stroll through the Red Light District the first night. Moving Day, Again {Our New Bungalow}

Image
Well, it's been a few weeks now, and we're starting to get all settled in at our new Bungalow here in Dublin.  As I mentioned in my last post , this was our 4th move in the last 12 months.  We hope it's our last here in Ireland. We moved a whopping 1/2 mile down the road.  It took 6 hours and 4.5 trips in the trusty Little Green Machine - and then 1 last trip with our bikes.  That should give you an idea of how much stuff we own over here.  We literally started packing, moved and unpacked everything in 6 hours, stopping for lunch in the middle.  There she is, the Little Green Machine Believe it or not, this is actually the second yellow stucco place I've lived in.  My first apartment in college was also yellow, stucco and cute. This was the last trip It's definitely taken a little time to settled in and fix up a few outstanding issues, but I think we're really going to like this place.  The kitchen is the biggest we've ever had to...

Belgium {Bruges}

Image
After our time in Brussels and Ghent , on our third day in Belgium we arrived in Bruges.  Bruges is, without a doubt, the cutest little town ever.  And, along with that, come the tourists - a lot of them, us included.  I think it's fair to say, we really liked Bruges at dusk and dawn, when the crowds thinned, the sun or lights were setting and reflecting off the canals creating a beautiful images at every corner. In the Market Square Bruges at night The classic shot Just another random street, with a beautiful view Bruges is pretty small, and easy to see in an afternoon, so our only full day, we decided to get out of town.  We rented bikes and headed for the country. On our way out of town Heading along the canals We had a map of a huge circuit of bike only trials along canals, through the country.  It was so cool to bike from little village to little village through along the tree lined canals and fields full of crops, cows, ...
