Venice Italy {With the Simon's}

After my parents visited us in Dublin, they jet setted around Europe for a few weeks on their own before meeting us for a weekend in Venice.

Day 1 we spent wandering and getting lost in the alleyways, admiring the canals, the boats, and the buildings.  Stopping along the way for snacks and drinks and enjoying each others company.  We hit all the sights - San Marcos square, The bell tower, and the Rialto Bridge.

On the Rialto Bridge
Old, beautiful buildings
Laundry hanging on our street
Enjoying a Spritz along the canal
A market on a boat
The neighborhood where we stayed
View of the top of the bell tower in San Marcos Square
Mom and Dad along the canal
and again with me
pretty canals
Another canal shot
The Rialto Bridge
Stopping for a coffee
Classic Venice
Street music

I loved the pink street lamps
Yep, another one
They all looked the same but different
And they were all so pretty
Little allies lead to nice squares
The buildings had so much character
On our street
On our 2nd day, we took a boat ride out to the islands of Burano and Murano.  Burano is known for all the colorful buildings along the canals, and Murano for glassblowing.  My cousin Phillip and Marlon met us in Burano for lunch!  My parents had just left their place in Rome, and realized that everyone was heading to Venice for the weekend.  It was perfect timing and we were so happy to be able to see them for an afternoon.

The buildings in Burano were so pretty
Pretty canals, again

They say the buildings are painted so bright so when the fishermen
went out to sea, they could find their way home.

The whole crew - we are just as colorful as the buildings
Soaking up the sun
Walking through Murano - Reservoir Dogs style
Murano was kind of a bust, as it was Sunday and most of the galleries were closed.  Even so, it ended up being a great day, with great weather.

The following morning, my parents left, and Brian and I had one last day to hang out.  We were hoping for the sun to come back out, but it ended up being the worst day of weather.  We walked around some areas that we hadn't been yet - swooned over the produce at a market, and couldn't resist the squash blossoms - we brought some home.

The Jewish Quarter
Spritz's - Brian's new favorite Campari Cocktail
The weather made for a beautiful sky
Walking to our last dinner
It was really special to be able to spend some time with my parents in both Italy and Ireland.  They got a little taste of what our lives are like in Europe, and also caught the travel bug a bit themselves.   Thanks Mom & Dad.  xoxo.
