Sydney {Month 11}

Last Saturday, Sydney turned 11 months old!  Her 10th month was a BIG one.  So much has happened.  Let's start with the big ones - she learned how to go from laying down to sitting up on her own.  This happened right after her 10 month birthday.  And soon after that, she got herself up on all 4's and a few days later, she finally started crawling.  She has taken off and is all over the place.  We now are seeing her get into downward dog, up on her knees and trying to pull herself up to standing.  It's only a matter of time.
On the move

Her first tooth broke through on May 6th!  Bottom right.  It's just a tiny corner of a tooth so far, but we're counting it.

Sydney is currently obsessed with books and peas.

She especially likes "lift the flap" books, and can sit with Dear Zoo for a really long time, flipping the pages and lifting the flaps and pointing at the animals.  Pointing is also new this month.  She will go from book to book, opening them, pointing and babbling away.  Her other favorite books right now are Hand, Hand, Finger, Thumb (She pounds the ground in rhythm (her rhythm) of the story), and Close Your Eyes (the only book she'll sit totally still for - I think she likes the pictures of the little Tiger).

And the peas, she loves them.  There have been several days that she had peas for part of all 3 (or 4) of her meals.  She is still eating everything we give her - I'm prepared for this to change at some point but I'm holding onto the tiniest bit of hope that she will always be a good eater.  In Hawaii, I fed her a few times from chopsticks and she got a big kick out of it.  She also started smacking her lips when she sees food, or when we're getting her ready to eat.  It's adorable.

Speaking of Hawaii, we just got back from a week in Maui with The Lederman's (aka Bama & Papa).  What an great week we had and are so grateful that Sydney was able to spend so much time with her grandparents while Brian and I were able to sneak off to the pool, go on a bike ride, snorkel and have a date night.  Sydney loved watching the ocean and birds, swimming in the pool and dining al fresco.  Thank you, thank you Robin & Richard.  It was the perfect break, we can't wait to do it again.

Here are my favorite photos from the month:
Just after she turned 10 months at VBJ Winery with Danielle and Sophia.
The morning after she learned how to sit up on her own, I saw her on the monitor sitting in her crib.
It shocked me, I ran in, and she was just sitting there waving to me.  Too cute.
Our good friends Julie & Brandon from Portland came to spend the night with us with
their kiddos Clara and Gus.  I really couldn't get any of them to look and smile -
but we LOVED having their company for the night.
Sydney finally started to love the swing.
The higher we push her, the more fun she has.
My parents were back down for a week visiting.
I think this is just a really cute photo of Sydney.
Loves her bouncer
Mom put Sydney down for a nap and she fell asleep sitting! Silly peanut.

Hi MarMe!
And...off to Maui.  I took a lot of photos and here are most of my favorites:
Sunset from the back patio - not a bad view for the week
Papa's tradition of being the first to dip the grandkids toes in the ocean.
Sydney was a tough critic
Brian trying to get her to enjoy the ocean
Toys and all, she just wasn't a huge fan
She preferred bouncing on Dada on the beach
Or rolling over Mama
Papa getting some good snuggles from a tired baby
Pool time with Bama
This is the life!
Drying off
Oceanside talks with Papa
Just a cute one

Pool transportation
*disclaimer - the pool was less than 1/4 mile from the house which is all in a gated community.
We would never do this otherwise - it was just quicker than walking
Flowers in her hair

We had the best month, and Sydney is making us laugh and smile daily.  I can't believe the next post I'll write, Sydney will be 1 year old.  We're looking forward to celebrating her 1st year with family & friends.
