Expat Independence Day

Yes, we celebrated the 4th of July on Canada Day, but who is taking notes over here in Ireland?

The 4th was approaching and the thought of not getting to celebrate with hot dogs, potato salad and a beer was just not fathomable.  So Brian and I, along with our other expat American friends, planned a BBQ.

We'd been eyeing these 1-time use BBQ's that are sold in supermarkets, convenience stores and hardware stores for a while now, and what better time to give one a try? They are basically a tin baking pan, filled with coals and a cooking rack on top - you use them once, have a delicious BBQ, and that's it.  It may not be a manly grill, but genius and novel, yes!

Everyone brought salads, beers and snacks and it turned out to be a fabulous spread with delicious food and good company.

What a fun afternoon we all had.  We can't wait to do it again.  Happy 4th of July!
